Classes or 1:1?
I'm not sure what is better for my dog?
Many trainers offer group classes to teach a dog new skills. Some even include an element of behaviour training. Classes are a great way to learn for confident dogs and humans. They are most effective if they are well managed and do not overwhelm you or your dog.
However, many classes are held in a confined space such as a village hall or paddock, together with several other unfamiliar dogs and people. This can be stressful for a dog who is already struggling. It can also be uncomfortable for you as their human if you feel watched, judged and pressurised to conform to certain standards. That's when private sessions with a non-judgmental, sympathetic professional can help.
