About me
Hello and welcome to Brain behind the Bark. My name is Irene and I love to help dogs and their humans to live harmoniously together. I am a highly qualified, professionally trained certified dog behaviour consultant with a Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour (Distinction) from the International School for Canine Psychology (ISCP). I am insured, first aid trained and DBS checked and take regular CPD very seriously. I am accredited by the International Institute for Canine Ethics (IICE) and am a member of the Pet Professional Guild and their Shock-Free Coalition, the Pet Professional Network, the Dog Welfare Alliance, the International Companion Animal Network, Canine Arthritis Management and the Society for Companion Animal Studies.

Knowledge and experience go hand in hand. I have shared my life with dogs for 48 years, including rescue dogs for 20 years, and I am a longstanding avid supporter of dog rescue. I recently lost my senior rescue Old English Sheepdog who inspired me to formalise my decades of experience with a recognised qualification and become a canine professional. I now live with a new puppy. I have a PhD in a science-based subject and previously worked in adult higher education for many years. I have left this career to pursue my dream to work with dogs and their humans. I am looking forward to supporting you and your best friend!
